Jul 28, 2021 · An autopsy performed at 1:30 pm at the County Coroner’s office after Inger Stevens death. Inger had a blood alcohol level of .17, and it estimated that there were somewhere between 25 and 50 barbiturate pills in her stomach. Her official cause of death was determined to be ‘acute barbiturate intoxication due to ingestion of an overdose’.
On arrival, medics removed a small bandage from her chin that revealed a small amount of fresh blood oozing from a cut that appeared to have been a few hours old. Los Angeles County coroner Dr. Thomas Noguchi attributed Stevens' death to "acute barbiturate poisoning" [19] [20] and the death was eventually ruled a suicide.
