Jared Ingersoll (October 24, 1749 – October 31, 1822) was an American Founding Father, lawyer, and statesman from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a delegate to the Continental Congress and a signer of the United States Constitution.
The elder Jared Ingersoll was known especially for his vigorous pursuit, as Connecticut’s agent to London, of the colonists’ interest in the face of the Stamp Act, and then for his controversial role as the agent who enforced the resulting Stamp Act in Connecticut.

Jared Ingersoll, 1749–1822, American jurist, b. New Haven, Conn.; son of Jared Ingersoll (1722–81) and father of Charles Jared Ingersoll. After studying law in England, he was admitted (1773) to the bar in Philadelphia and became a leading attorney; he later argued many important cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.
