According to Rebecca Sugar in Steven Universe: Art and Origins, Jasper has a fantastic reputation and is regarded as one of the best Quartzes produced on Earth. She is described by her as a "highly decorated Gem from humble origins" in Homeworld.
Jasper is a major antagonist of the Steven Universe franchise. She is a Homeworld Gem soldier who is bent on destroying the Crystal Gems and their leader, Rose Quartz, to avenge the presumed death of her superior, Pink Diamond, which turned her into Steven 's archenemy and his most frequent foe.
Listen, weakling! After the war, Jasper was regarded as the best Quartz soldier produced on Earth and became one of Yellow Diamond 's Gems. Thousands of years after the Rebellion, Jasper is assigned by Yellow Diamond to be Peridot 's escort to Earth while the latter checks on the Cluster and its prototypes.
Jasper is a Quartz-type Gem created on Earth by the Gem Homeworld. Despite the poor condition of the Beta Kindergarten she was made in, Jasper, unlike the other Gems made there, was considered to be the ultimate Quartz, stronger and tougher than the rest.
