Karen Halverson (born 1941) is an American photographer. Education. She received a BA degree in philosophy from Stanford University in 1963. [1] . In 1965 she received an MA degree in the History of Ideas from Brandeis University, followed by an MA in Anthropology from Columbia University in 1975. [1] Publications.

Recently, the Beinecke acquired my work from other regions of the country, including my series, New Orleans & the Levees and Miami and South Florida. In 2022, Special Collections at Stanford University made a significant acquisition of my work from the series, Downstream: Encounters with the Colorado River.
Karen Halverson received her BA from Stanford University and her MA from Columbia University. Her photographs were first exhibited in a 1976 group exhibition at Bard College in New York State. Her first solo exhibition took place in 1988 at the Witkin Gallery in New York City.
To celebrate the expansion and reinstallation of the Virginia Steele Scott Galleries of American Art, The Huntington presents an exhibition of works from American photographer Karen Halverson’s Colorado River series, on view May 30 through Sept. 28, 2009.
