Gerardo González (January 6, 1926 – February 13, 2003), better known in the boxing world as Kid Gavilan, was a Cuban boxer. Gavilán was the former undisputed world welterweight champion from 1951 to 1954 having simultaneously held the NYSAC, WBA, and The Ring welterweight titles.
Gavilan was down in the 2nd round for a nine-count, only the second knockdown of his career. Basilio was ahead at the end of six rounds, but Gavilan outboxed him the rest of the way. The official scoring on points, all in favor of Gavilan, was 100-72, 99-81, and 99-74.
