Apr 22, 2021 · MACON/SAVANNAH/COLUMBUS – Mercer University School of Medicine (MUSM) recently announced its latest class of Primary Care Accelerated Track (ACT) Scholars. Mercer’s Primary Care ACT Program was one of the first two programs of its kind to be created in the United States.
Biographical / Historical. Thomas J. Holmes was born in 1918. He served as the senior pastor of Tattnall Square Baptist Church, Macon, in the 1960s, preaching the importance of integration after the congregation blocked Sam Oni from attending. Although Tattnall Square fired Holmes, he continued to serve the Mercer University in various capacities.
