As of 2022, there are 588 National Wildlife Refuges in the United States, [1] with the addition of the Green River National Wildlife Refuge. [2] Refuges that have boundaries in multiple states are listed only in the state where the main visitor entrance is located.
Audubon National Wildlife Refuge is a 14,739-acre refuge that attracts numerous species of waterfowl, shorebirds, song birds, and other migratory birds. The Refuge occupies the southern portion of Lake Audubon and adjacent lands of native prairie, planted grasslands, and wetlands.

The not so good news: It seeks to prohibit the use of traditional lead ammunition and fishing tackle for those who plan to enjoy these expanded opportunities.
