Pete Carlton (Do-nato) is 10 and dying. His one wish is to capture the rare blue morpho butterfly. World-weary entomologist Alan Osborne (Hurt) is persuaded by Pete's mother, Teresa (Bussieres), to let them accompa- ny his expedition into the rain forest of Costa Rica.
