The first season of Phineas and Ferb is comprised of forty-seven episodes divided into twenty-six half-hours, which originally aired on Disney Channel and Disney XD from August 17, 2007 to February 18, 2009. The season shows the adventures of Phineas and Ferb as they make the best of their summer vacation, while Candace tries to "bust" them for it, and Perry fights the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz.

The season entered production in 2006, following the success of the Original Pitch. Series co-creator Dan Povenmire and Zac Moncrief headed it, serving as the primary directors. It was officially announced in February 2007 at the upfront presentation, with its first two episodes debuting as sneak peeks of the show months later, leading up to the formal premiere in February 2008. It functioned as a testing ground for the series, giving way for merchandising following its rapid popularity.

Series creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh presented the series to Disney with a storyboard pitch put together by Povenmire, who edited the storyboards he had drawn into a film, adding sound and voices provided by him. The executives liked it, giving them the green-light to produce a twenty-six episode season.

Throughout the summer and the latter half of 2006, the crew was assembled. Povenmire and Marsh offered spots to former co-workers of theirs in other animated series, such as Rocko's Modern Life animation director Robert F. Hughes, who was hired on August 28, 2006 to exert the same function. Family Guy director Zac Moncrief assisted Povenmire in leading the episodes' direction, and Rocko's writer Martin Olson served as the head writer, conceptualizing the episodes' plotlines with Povenmire, Marsh, and Bobby Gaylor; the four of them worked as staff writers for the season.

Story artists were divided into teams of two, with each team working in a different episode. Duos for the season include Antoine Guilbaud/Sherm Cohen, Aliki Theofilopoulos/Kent Osborne, Jon Colton Barry/Mike Roth, and Michael Diederich/Chong Lee. Barry helped write two episodes of the season, "Got Game?" and "The Monster of Phineas-n-Ferbenstein", the former of which was also co-written by production supervisor Lance LeCompte. The animation was outsourced to two studios, Wang Film Productions and Rough Draft Studios. Songs were penned by the creative team of the show, and composed by Danny Jacob, who had been attached to the project since November 8, 2007.

The series was officially announced as part of the annual upfront presentation to advertisers on February 8, 2007, with a premiere date slated in winter 2008. The main voice cast was revealed to include Vincent Martella and Thomas Sangster as the titular characters, and then-Disney Channel stars Ashley Tisdale and Mitchel Musso as Candace and Jeremy.

On July 14, 2007, a preview of the first episode was confirmed to be aired after the premiere of High School Musical 2. On September 19, another sneak peek featuring the second episode was revealed to be broadcast on the 28th, following the Disney Channel premiere of Sky High. A rerun of the first episode aired as a third preview on November 23, succeeding an encore of High School Musical Pop-up edition; and a fourth and final sneak peek, a re-airing of the second episode, was broadcast on December 31, as part of Disney Channel Happy U-Year.

Recurring actors and a number of guest stars for the season were unveiled on September 13, 2007, along with the premiere date, which was set to January 2008. Among the names included were boxing champion Evander Holyfield, Rocky Horror star Tim Curry, father-daughter Joel Grey and Jennifer Grey, and host Geraldo Rivera.

In the table below, the following abbreviations are used: DC US = Disney Channel US; Ep. # = Episode number; Vol. # = Volume number (shown in the iTunes Store as a "season").

•Prior to the Disney merchandise, Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh had Perry plushes made specifically for the crew. As a Christmas gift, they also recorded a medley of 80s hits as Doofenshmirtz and Monogram.

•The last three episodes ("Phineas and Ferb Get Busted!", "Unfair Science Fair", and "Unfair Science Fair Redux (Another Story)") were held for broadcast leading up to Season 2, as part of the launch of Disney XD. This led to many people believing that they were part of the second season. With the release of the second DVD, and considering their placement in the iTunes Store catalog, they were correctly identified as part of Season 1. In addition, the title sequence for the three episodes shows scenes from the Original Pitch, much like with the other episodes of the season.
