Redondo Beach doesn't feel as "beachy" to me as Manhattan or Hermosa because the harbor dominates the waterfront area. Manhattan Beach is my favorite of the three, but there isn't much right by the beach in terms of hotels.
In Manhattan Beach you are about a 30 minute walk to the beach from most of the PCH hotels. In Hermosa Beach that is probably a 10 to 15 minute walk. There are some large hotels in the King Harbor section of Redondo Beach that surround the marina.
