On November 20, 2023, all players will be given a free Riot ID change regardless of how recently their last change may have been. After that, it will take 90 days from your last free Riot ID change before it's available again.
Apr 1, 2020 · Be sure to change your username as soon as you can, because in early February, you’ll no longer be able to sign-in with your old name to play any of our games. You can still sign in to change your username, but you won’t be able to play League until you have a globally unique username.
Jun 28, 2024 · Your Riot ID is what your friends will see in-game. This is the display name that you will be known by on screen and in friend lists. Unlike your login username, your Riot ID can be changed. Changes to your display names will not affect your username or the way you log in.
