Rocco Francis Marchegiano (September 1, 1923 – August 31, 1969; Italian pronunciation: [markeˈdʒaːno]), better known as Rocky Marciano (/ m ɑːr s i ˈ ɑː n oʊ /, Italian: [marˈtʃaːno]), was an American professional boxer who competed from 1947 to 1955.
Rocky Marciano, world heavyweight boxing champion from September 23, 1952, when he knocked out champion Jersey Joe Walcott, to April 27, 1956, when he retired from the ring. He was undefeated in 49 professional fights, scoring 43 knockouts.
