Jan 26, 2010 · Popular Japanese rock band Shonen Knife, best known to Filipino audiences as the group who popularized the remake of the Carpenters hit “Top of the World” back in the 90s, is coming to Manila. The concert will highlight the Nihongo Fiesta organized by the Japan Foundation Manila in cooperation with the SM Mall Of Asia on February 27.
Shonen Knife is a Japanese pop-punk band formed in Osaka in 1981. Influenced by 1960s girl groups , pop bands, the Beach Boys , and early punk rock bands such as the Ramones , the band crafts stripped-down songs with simple yet unconventional lyrics sung both in Japanese and English.
