Pickard began his music career after high school when he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and appeared on the Grand Ole Opry, later writing 4 songs for Ringo Starr's 1970 album, Beaucoups Of Blues.
Sorrells Pickard, whose real name was Jimmy Bazzell, was a charismatic and accomplished country-and-western musician whose credits include playing guitar with Ringo Starr on Beaucoups of Blues and writing three of that album's songs. He had also acted.
