Markey started off her career in film with roles in "Between Men" (1916) and "Civilization" (1916). Later, she acted in "Tarzan of the Apes" (1918), the Barry Fitzgerald crime flick "The Naked City" (1948) and "Bringing Up Buddy" (CBS, 1960-61).
