The Thorium Mod heavily expands on the number of options available for the four vanilla classes – Melee, Ranged, Magic, and Summon. In addition to this, the mod adds a completely revamped Thrower class with mechanics unique to the Thorium Mod, as well as two completely new classes for the player to play as: Healer and Bard.

The Thorium Mod expands on the number of bosses that can be challenged at different points in the game, featuring unique drops and AI, making every encounter a memorable one. Most bosses do not spawn naturally on their own, and thus require their respective boss summoning item to initiate the fight.
Thorium adds 65 new Armor Sets that find places throughout game progression to add flavor to gameplay, provide new options and increase the variety for different playstyles. Many interesting and unique set bonuses also complement the additions, granting exciting new effects over boosted stats.
