Jan 13, 2021 · I’ve recently watched The Hunt with Mads Mikkelsen and it’s a very well done movie. But I’ve been thinking about whether there was a lesson or message to the film. Like Mads Mikkelsen’s character has to go through all these terrible things and he doesn’t do anything to deserve it.
(English Subtitled) The Hunt is a disturbing depiction of how a lie is taken as truth when gossip, doubt and malice are allowed to flourish and ignite a witch-hunt that soon threatens to destroy an innocent man's life.
A teacher (Mikkelsen) lives a lonely life following a difficult divorce, all the while struggling over his son's custody. His life slowly gets better as he finds love and receives good news from his son, but his newly acquired luck is about to be brutally shattered by an innocent little lie.
Lucas (Mads Mikkelsen), a highly-regarded school teacher, has been forced to start over having overcome a tough divorce. Just as things are starting to go his way, his life is shattered. An untruthful remark throws the small community into a collective state of hysteria.
