Crafted to visually represent the murder stories in 1950s-era detective magazines, The Number 23 traffics heavily in murder and suicide. More often than not, before a scene concludes there’s a dead body lying on the ground in a pool of blood.
The Number 23 (2007) is the story of Walter Sparrow, a man with a shattered childhood who has murdered a woman in a jealous rage, then attempted suicide, failed, recovered without memory of his awful past and of the awful things he had done.
