The fifth season of the American television comedy The Office premiered in the United States in the 2008–2009 television season on NBC on September 25, 2008 and concluded on May 14, 2009. The fifth season consisted of 28 half-hours of material, divided into 24 half-hour episodes and two hour-long episodes.
S5.E4 ∙ Crime Aid. Michael and Holly have sex for the first time, and Michael holds a fundraiser for the office after it is burglarized. Dwight confides in Phyllis after Andy and Angela set a wedding date, and Jim runs into Pam's ex-fiancé, Roy.
Due to the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike, the fourth season that aired in 2007–08 consisted of 19 episodes. [2] The fifth season aired during 2008–09 and consisted of 28 episodes. The sixth season aired during 2009–10 and consisted of 26 episodes.

Season 5 of The Office began on September 25, 2008, on NBC. It ended on May 14, 2009, and consisted of 28 episodes (divided into 22 half-hour episodes and three hour-long episodes), making it the longest season of the series. The previous season was Season 4 and the next season was Season 6.
The start of the season revolves around Michael attempting to woo Holly and eventually succeeds only for David Wallace to transfer her to another branch forcing the two to end their relationship just when it got started. Meanwhile Jim and Pam become engaged and struggle through the difficulties of a long-distance relationship while Pam is studying art in New York. Eventually, new boss Charles Miner enters later in the season and causes trouble for Michael. Michael eventually cannot deal with his dictator-like changes and quits to form his own company taking Pam and Ryan with him. The company becomes successful and eventually, Dunder Mifflin is forced to buy them out. The season ends with Pam learning she is pregnant.
