Mar 22, 2024 · Getting Here. The Valley of the Gods is located in Utah, just north of Mexican Hat. From Monument Valley, it is 32 miles away, about a half hour of driving. From Monument Valley, drive north on US-163. The entrance into the park is just a few miles north of Mexican Hat. There are two entrances into the Valley of the Gods.
Valley of the Gods Road is a 17-mile long dirt road that weaves through the heart of a desert territory where rock formations similar to those found in the Monument Valley – which are much better known – are clearly visible, such as mesas, pinnacles, monoliths and rocks shaped by erosion and by the elements over millennia that started 250 million years ago.

The east entrance is accessed off US-163 approximately 15 miles west of Bluff. The west entrance is accessed from US-261.

The Valley of the Gods Road runs between Highways 163 and 261. The road forks away from Hwy 163 about 7.5 miles north of Mexican Hat. It winds north and west and then connects with Hwy 261 about 6.5 miles northwest of the point where Hwy 261 forks from Hwy 161.
