     What is a gateway and how does it affect this API?

     The API gateway is the endpoint that:

     - Accepts API calls and routes them to your backends.- Verifies API keys, JWT tokens, certificates, and other credentials.- Enforces usage quotas and rate limits.- Transforms your API on the fly without code modifications.- Caches backend responses where set up.- Logs call metadata for analytics purposes.

     Does it have anything to do with the Gateways page in APIM? There is no "Managed" gateway listed:

     The Gateways Page in APIM is to create Self-hosted gateways which enable you to efficiently and securely manage APIs hosted on-premises and across clouds from a single API Management service in Azure.

     Whenever any application in one computer sends data to another application of a different computer then it sends using IP Address and MAC Address but how does our computer know that this data is for a specific application and this data is sent by any specific application? There comes the concept of Port.

     For instance, imagine your MAC Address or IP Address as the PIN code of the nearest Post Office and your house address as a Port. Whenever any parcel is sent to you it gets received by the nearest post office and then it is identified by your address where to deliver that parcel. Similarly in a computer data is first received using their IP or MAC address then it is delivered to the application whose port number is with the data packets.

     Port is a logical address of a 16-bit unsigned integer that is allotted to every application on the computer that uses the internet to send or receive data.

   • What Is Poison Reverse in Networking?

     Poison Reverse is a loop avoidance method used in Routing Information Protocol (RIP) in Distance Vector Routing Protocol (DVRP) which allows a RIP enabled interface setting the cost of the route (i.e. setting hop count which generally ranges from 0 to 15) that it gets from its neighboring routers to 16 (here 16 will be considered as infinity) which shows that given route is unreachable so send the route back. When the neighboring route receives this route with cost 16, it deletes the useless routes from its routing table which further prevents the looping.

     Poison Reverse is used to tackle the count-to-Infinity problems and one can imagine it as a reverse of the Split Horizon method. With the help of poison reverse, we can advertise the route advertisement which would be suppressed by a split-horizon with a distance of infinity.

     Network jitter, is the variance in time delay between data packets over a network. For example, If you have “computer A” communicating with “computer B”, the two will transfer data packets. Over a healthy network, the packets travel in equal time intervals. When there is jitter, these intervals become unequal. To calculate jitter, the corrected standard deviation is used. For this, imagine you transmit 3 packets and packet 1 takes 1.2 s, packet 2 1.7 s and packet 3 1.1 s, then find the average (1.2 + 1.7 + 1.1)/3 = 1.3, then find the squared deviation like (1.2-1.3)^2 + (1.7-1.3)^2 + (1.1-1.3)^2 = 0.21, finally the jitter is SquareRoot (0.21 / (3 - 1)) = 0.34. Note the -1 in (3 - 1) is always used, this is called Bessel's correction and it unbias the calculation.
