The museum is on three floors. On entrance visitors can experience the general background to Portugal's historyof exploration in the 15th-17th centuries. WORLD OF DISCOVERIES is an Interactive Museum and Theme Park that recreates the fantastic odyssey of the Portuguese navigators, crossing oceans to discover an unknown world. At the WORLD OF DISCOVERIES the multimedia content provides a multi-sensorial experience.
The museum and theme park known as World of Discoveries is located in the Miragaia Neighborhoods, an area with traditional sceneries and views of the Douro River. The place is inspired by the history of the Portuguese navigators and the voyages and conquests they made around the world.
Porto, Portugal, Europe. Miragaia. A guaranteed kid-pleaser – if slightly overpriced – this interactive museum catapults you back to the 14th to 16th centuries, when the Portuguese ruled the colonial waves. The latest technological wizardry and a swashbuckling, theme-park-like boat ride recreate scenes of the intrepid seafarers of yore.
