  5. Conclusion: The presence of an ICD is not an absolute contraindication to pregnancy; however, this does add another management consideration during delivery. Decisions should balance the need to prevent unnecessary shocks due to sinus tachycardia or SVT during labor and the need for urgent defibrillation for ventricular arrhythmias. Footnotes.
