      • On June 3, 1809, a small group of Baptists who lived in the vicinity met and constituted a church under the name of “West Fork of Flint River.” One month later, at their monthly business meeting, they agreed to change the name to “Enon Church.” The name “Enon” was chosen from John 3:23 and had come to be associated with a place near “much water.”
