Aug 27, 2011 · The shifter feels and looks fantastic... very high production quality, however I have noticed a substantial increase in the noise from the tranny/driveline/headers. I expected some noise increase... poly bushings, etc, however this seems to be a bit more than usual.
Oct 5, 2022 · MGW shifter, anyone have one that can comment on the noise and the rattling. I swear my transmission sounds so loud now, every gear and the rattle at high RPM and just overall noise is driving me nuts.
Aug 31, 2024 · I just installed the mgw shifter. When get it in high RPMs I hear a rattle, almost like a grinding sound. Some other things I noticed, putting it into first, second, or reverse is kind of hard, just doesn't feel right.
Apr 9, 2006 · My 02 GT with an MGW makes a lot of racket in the gearbox through the shifter. They say it's the quietest on the market but it's still alot noisier than stock. You get used to it.

Jan 27, 2020 · I've tried removing the entire center console assembly, all of the surrounding bits from the shifter (rubber dust boot, fabric sound deadening, etc.), and the shift knob itself, and drove around and the noise was still there (louder actually because nothing was there to block it).
Mar 18, 2015 · To me, the MGW vibrates a lot less than the stock shifter. I have noticed a different sound while driving, but I actually like it. The sound is a little difficult to describe, but I really only notice it in first and second gear when accelerating.
Jan 28, 2008 · The MGW comes in 25% and 35% shorter throw than the C6 shifter. You do the math to figure out how much shorter that makes it to the C5. This shifter hasn't made much noise on C5GEN but it's getting popular over on C6GEN.
