Austin Stories is an American sitcom that aired on MTV from September 10, 1997 until January 7, 1998. It aired Wednesday nights at 10:30 pm. The show aired twelve episodes filmed on location in Austin, Texas. An MTV search brought executives James Jones and Lisa Berger to Austin in 1994.
Austin Stories: Created by James Jones. With Laura House, Howard Kremer, Brad 'Chip' Pope, Andy Brown. The story of three friends - Laura, A newspaper columnist, Howard, a homeless slacker, and Chip, a misdirected career-vagabond, - and their misadventures together.

Dec 8, 2016 · In a perfect world, Austin’s show would be Austin Stories, a 1997 MTV comedy about the Portlandia-esque exploits of our city’s famous slacker population. But this ain’t a perfect world, so Austin Stories was swiftly and unceremoniously canned by the fun-hating suits at MTV after just one season.
