Charlie Bowdre. / 34.40361°N 104.19361°W / 34.40361; -104.19361 ( Billy the Kid's Gravesite) Charles Bowdre (c. 1848 – December 23, 1880) was an American cowboy and outlaw. He was an associate of Billy the Kid and member of his gang.
After the war, they became cattle rustlers and formed the Bonney gang with fellow outlaws Charlie Bowdre and Dave Rudabaugh. O’Folliard was second in command and best friends with Billy the Kid. On the road to Fort Sumner, he was shot in the chest by Sheriff Pat Garrett and died as a result.

Aug 12, 2014 · In 1931, the chamber in Fort Sumner erected the “PALS” headstone at the Kid’s grave. Three of Billy’s pallbearers pointed out three different spots as the location of Tom Folliard, Charlie Bowdre and the Kid’s grave. As a result, the chamber placed the marker in the middle of those sites.
