The Omen is a 1976 supernatural horror film directed by Richard Donner and written by David Seltzer. An international co-production of the United Kingdom and the United States, it stars Gregory Peck, Lee Remick, David Warner, Harvey Spencer Stephens (in his film debut), Billie Whitelaw, Patrick Troughton, Martin Benson, and Leo McKern.
Hellhounds are major antagonists in The Omen franchise. They are the unofficially named large black dogs which serve Satan and/or the Antichrist in The Omen films. A Hellhound appears at Damien Thorn's fifth birthday party and causes his nanny, Holly, to hang herself for Damien.

Following the death of the previous ambassador in a suspicious vehicle fire caused by a vagrant, Robert assumes his position and settles in a large estate just outside London. However, disturbing events begin to occur, including the suicide of Damien's nanny, who saw a black dog and made eye contact with it, at his birthday party.

Just prior to the nanny hanging herself at Damien's fifth birthday party, a black dog appeared in the bushes and made eye contact with her. The assumption is that the black dog, one of many who guard Damien at various points in the movie, compelled her to do it, the intent being to replace her with Mrs Baylock.
