Coloane ( Chinese: 路環, Portuguese: Coloane) is the southernmost area in Macau, connected to Taipa through the area known as Cotai, which is largely built from reclaimed land. Known as “ Lou Wan ” in Cantonese, Coloane forms the southern part of Macau.

Coloane (路環 - Louwan in Cantonese, Lùhuán in Mandarin) is the southern-most island in China's Special Administrative Region of Macau. It used to be separated from Taipa to the north but the two are now joined by the reclaimed land of the Cotai Strip to form one huge island.
Back in 1928 when Macau was still under the rule of Portugal, the village was built and named after a missionary who was pivotal in the East’s Christian influences. Take a leisurely stroll around, and you’ll discover gems in every corner: from artisan shops, churches, temples, beaches, and more.
Right by the water, Coloane has its own, smaller and more peaceful version of Macau's "Senado Square"-- with a beautiful black-and-white Portuguese tiled plaza, a fountain, a lovely church in Portuguese yellow flanked by colonades on either side.
