Visit The Arboretum. The Arboretum is an extension of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is used by students and researchers focusing on ecological restoration. While it is not a park, thousands of people visit the Arboretum each year to enjoy its seasonal beauty.
University of Wisconsin–Madison Arboretum. Coordinates: 43°02′29″N89°25′50″W43.041425°N 89.430652°W. The University of Wisconsin–Madison Arboretum is a teaching and research facility of the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the site of historic research in ecological restoration.
The Arboretum began in 1932 when the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents acquired 245 acres on the south shore of Lake Wingra. It was formally dedicated in 1934 and has since grown to 1,260 acres in Madison as well as a number of outlying properties throughout Wisconsin.
