Uppsala (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈɵ̂pːˌsɑːla] ⓘ; archaically spelled Upsala) is the county seat of Uppsala County and the fourth-largest city in Sweden, after Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö. It had 177,074 inhabitants in 2019. Located 71 km (44 mi) north of the capital Stockholm it is also the seat of Uppsala Municipality.

Uppsala, län (county) in east-central Sweden. It lies between Mälaren (lake) on the south and the Gulf of Bothnia on the north. It constitutes most of the western part of the landskap (province) of Uppland. The län’s low, level surface is drained by the Fyris River. Grain and potatoes are grown, and there is some stock raising and dairying.
