Jul 17, 2019 · Brief History of Eisenberg Jewelry. Jonas Eisenberg immigrated from Austria, settled in Chicago, and, in 1914, opened Eisenberg & Sons, Inc. specializing in high-end ladies fashions. The store was struggling during the 1930s, and Jonas came up with a genius marketing plan: brilliant, bold pins and brooches that complemented the fashions.
As many of these pieces were stolen off the racks, Eisenberg realized there was a market and launched its famous jewelry line in the 1930s. By the 1940s, the line was carried in most American cities. Eisenberg continued to use the narrow 1940s line and typical 1940s draping once the New Look arrived. Eisenberg stopped making clothing in 1958.
Nov 13, 2015 · Eisenberg began making jewelry sometime around 1930 to accessorize the clothes on display in the store -- originally the pieces were not for sale. They were made with the finest Swaroskvi crystals available -- high quality from the very start. Alas for the company, the jewelry was so beautiful it kept getting stolen off of the clothes!
Some of these pieces would serve as the basis for Eisenberg Ice to do genuine re-issue pieces, replicating vintage desings in modern materials. There were two batches of these done as an ode to the collect-ability of Eisenberg jewelry. But actual fakes were being marketed.
