The Progressive Conservative Association of Nova Scotia [3] (also known as the Progressive Conservative Party of Nova Scotia), is a moderate [4] political party in Nova Scotia, Canada. Like most conservative parties in Atlantic Canada, it has been historically associated with the Red Tory [5] faction of Canadian conservatism.
1948 leadership convention. Party President Robert Stanfield won this convention handily defeating C. Fred Fraser 246-76 on November 10, 1948. Stanfield would go on to become premier from 1956 to 1967. In 1967, he won the leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada and led that party for another nine years.
