On North Milam just at the outskirts of town you will make a left turn into Cross Mountain Park. Cross Mountain is located on a historic marl and limestone hill with an elevation of 1951 ft. It was used as an Indian lookout prior to early settlers.
This is a city park, but is really a small hiking mountain. It's in town, so conveniently accessed. Great exercise, but not overly strenuous. My dogs love it, and it's a great way for a short outing and exercise without a long drive. On top is a cross that is lit at night (hence the name Cross Mountain).
