American actress and singer known for portraying Erma Franklin in the 2021 Aretha Franklin biopic Respect and Lillian Williams in The Wonder Years 2021. Her big screen debut came in 1999 when she portrayed Young Dearie B. in Funny Valentines. She has also starred in a number of Broadway plays, including The Color Purple and Eclipsed.
She began her training as an actress at the Tri-Cities School for the Visual and Performing Arts in Georgia.
In 2016, she was named Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play at the Drama Desk Awards for her performance in Eclipsed. She was also nominated for a Tony Award for the same role.
