Summary. When the airlines change flight paths over their house, the Simpsons start to get annoyed. After Bart sees a "Krusty the Clown Show" advertisement, he thinks Krusty should run for Congress, (after the old Congressman Horace Wilcox passes away) and pass a bill to reroute the air traffic.
After their house is shaken by a tremendous rumble one morning, the Simpsons discover that they're living directly beneath the newest flight path to Springfield International Airport. A complaint to an airport official has no effect, and the house is now unsellable.

The title is an allusion to Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Both the film and this episode feature an election to find a replacement for a Congress member who dies before the end of his term. Mayor Quimby regrets building his shrill-voiced girlfriend an opera house, which was done in Citizen Kane.
