Tiziano Vecelli or Vecellio ( pronounced [titˈtsjaːno veˈtʃɛlljo]; c. 1488/90 [1] – 27 August 1576), [2] Latinized as Titianus, hence known in English as Titian ( / ˈtɪʃən / TISH-ən ), was an Italian Renaissance painter [a] of Lombard origin, [4] the most important artist of Renaissance Venetian painting.
