The Arabic Wikipedia ( Arabic: ويكيبيديا العربية) is the Modern Standard Arabic version of Wikipedia. It started on 9 July 2003. As of May 2024, it has 1,234,226 articles, 2,584,981 registered users and 54,259 files and it is the 17th largest edition of Wikipedia by article count, and ranks 7th in terms of depth among Wikipedias.
Many countries speak Arabic as an official language, but not all of them speak it the same way. The language has many dialects, or varieties, such as Modern Standard Arabic, Egyptian Arabic, Gulf Arabic, Maghrebi Arabic , Levantine Arabic and many others.
Additionally, the Arabic script is used in the Muslim areas in the southern Philippines. Tagalog and Cebuano are the most commonly spoken native languages, together comprising about half of the population of the Philippines. Filipino and English are the only official languages and are taught in schools.
