While living in Indianapolis, he met a new comer who lived a few blocks away, Catherine McCarty, a widow and single mother of two young boys. The two developed a relationship close enough that they would relocate together in 1869 to Wichita, Kansas. Now in Wichita, Antrim purchased a quarter section lot six miles from town.
