Charles is an HTTP proxy / HTTP monitor / Reverse Proxy that enables a developer to view all of the HTTP and SSL / HTTPS traffic between their machine and the Internet. This includes requests, responses and the HTTP headers (which contain the cookies and caching information).

Charles is intended to be a dive-in piece of software. Start it up, it will attempt to automatically configure your browser so you’re up and running immediately. Start browsing the web and watch the results appear in Charles; click on them and take a look at what is recorded.
Charles is a web proxy ( HTTP Proxy / HTTP Monitor) that runs on your own computer. Your web browser (or any other Internet application) is then configured to access the Internet through Charles, and Charles is then able to record and display for you all of the data that is sent and received.
Charles Web Debugging Proxy is a cross-platform HTTP debugging proxy server application written in Java. It enables the user to view HTTP , HTTPS , HTTP/2 [3] and enabled TCP port traffic accessed from, to, or via the local computer.
Charles has APT and YUM repositories, which are the preferred ways to install Charles if you have Debian-based or Red Hat-based Linux distributions. Otherwise, unzip the tar.gz archive in an appropriate location.
Getting Started. The best way to learn how to use Charles and to learn how it can help you is just to install it and see how it works. If you haven’t already please read the installation guide.
In Charles, go to the Proxy menu and choose Proxy Settings. This will show you the currently configured HTTP Proxy Port and SOCKS Proxy Port. Note down which one you want to use (probably HTTP Proxy).
