If you have children, especially boys, the Gladiator School is well worth a visit. This is a genuine gem hidden at the side of the Via Appia Antica. It is run by the official Rome historical reenactment society. Our guide was the excellent Paolo, who took us through the fantastic little museum.

The experience takes place at the home base of the Gruppo Storico Romano (Roman Historic Group), just outside the Rome city walls. Nov 26, 2023 · The Gladiator School in Rome was founded by Emperor Domitian in the 1st century AD. It was located on the eastern bank of the Tiber river, near the Colosseum. It was the largest and most famous of the four gladiator schools in Rome, and could house up to 2,000 gladiators at a time.
