Collier’s first introduction to jazz was a more humble one. A flyer for a camp in Chicago landed in Collier’s face. It was less than a decade ago. This gave him his first chance at the saxophone. His passion grew over the years. His father, a keyboardist, and singer, would often bring Collier, 12, to perform at gigs.
Out of the vibrant Chicago scene, multi-instrumentalist, composer, curator, activist and educator Isaiah Collier has made a name for himself most notably as a saxophone player, be it with his own projects, as part of Angel Bat Dawid’s Brotherhood or at the side of artists like Chance The Rapper, Waddada Leo Smith III, Junius Paul and many more.
