In Greek mythology, Tartarus (/ ˈ t ɑːr t ər ə s /; Ancient Greek: Τάρταρος, romanized: Tártaros) is the deep abyss that is used as a dungeon of torment and suffering for the wicked and as the prison for the Titans.
