It was written by Billy Strayhorn when he was just 22, but his lyrics speak of an experience well beyond those years. There’s a plot twist in the middle of the story, and it changes the tenor of the tune.

The script, the music, the acting, the cinematography, the way Hanson and Helgeland were able to distill that morass of a book into a cohesive and compelling story. There was a lot about it that was stunning. It's one of my all time favorite films. It never gets enough credit and it should have won for best picture.
Jun 15, 2020 · The film is bizarre in some ways, but it makes a very interesting watch, and very beautiful in many ways. The Directing choices worked, and the film had beautiful cinematography and a gorgeous soundtrack. The acting was also superb, despite some weird casting choices like John Leguizamo and Paul Rudd.

ONJ - pah-look at the Gibbs back catalogue; from Al Green's How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, to Dolly n Kenny's Islands In The Stream. setting aside Babs and Dionne, the Gibbs deserve better than being consigned to the Disco Sucks Era.
