It troubles me, however, that the author continuously attempts to paint McCandless as a hero, blameless in his own death. McCandless was already starving, or else the seeds would not have affected him so severely (if the author's theory about the seeds is correct). He did go into the situation unprepared and ignorant of his surroundings.
