Furthermore, the Bible refers to this region as Zion or Mount Zion, which speaks to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem which is virtually synonymous with Old Jerusalem itself as seen in scripture:
The Mount ('har') of Moriah was in the Land ('eretz') of Moriah. That this was 'the' mountain and not another one is based on tradition and the belief in divine guidance. It is interesting that the Mishnah places the soul of Abraham in Mount Moriah.
The specific mountain is identified in Isaiah and the Book of Psalms as Mount Zion (e.g. Isaiah 60:14, Psalms 125:1). The biblical Book of Chronicles , however, calls it Mount Moriah (2 Chronicles 3:1).
Speculation and debate. Whereas the mention of Moriah in Genesis could be referring to any mountainous region, the book of Chronicles says that the location of Araunah's threshing floor is on "Mount Moriah" and that the Temple of Solomon was built over Araunah's threshing floor. [8]
