Leipzig (/ ˈ l aɪ p s ɪ ɡ,-s ɪ x / LYPE-sig, -sikh, German: [ˈlaɪptsɪç] ⓘ; Upper Saxon: Leibz'sch) is the most populous city in the German state of Saxony. The city has a population of 628,718 inhabitants as of 2023. It is the eighth most populous city in Germany.

Leipzig is the largest city in the German federal state of Saxony, with a population of approximately 600,000 (Oct 2019). It is the economic centre of the region, known as Germany's "Boomtown" and a major cultural centre, offering interesting sights, shopping and lively nightlife.
