Tomorrow at 9AM, 1530 WSAI's Dan Allen will sign off Cincinnati's best oldies station for the last time making way for the new WCKY liberal talk radio station featuring Jerry Springer of all people. (talk about pouring salt into a wound!) In my opinion, Dan Allen is the God of all oldies program directors.

  2. Jan 11, 2005 · Earlier in 2004 we lost our local 1430 WRTH from oldies to American Favorites (ya right). Found out today WSAI 1530 out of Cincinatti is completely off the air. What the HELL is wrong with these people? St. Louis has KLOU 103.3, but they play more late 60s... I miss the 1st generation Rock and Roll.... Good Night Sweethart... Good Night.....

Mar 22, 2013 · Sadly,Real Oldies 1530 WSAI faded in to the sunset in January of 2005 when it reverted back to the WCKY calls airing Air America liberal talk as did it’s CC sister Real Oldies 1230(WCOL-AM)in Columbus early on in September of 2004. It was good while it lasted but didn’t last nearly long enough.

  5. Dec 1, 2012 · In 2003, WSAI flipped to an oldies format, but lasted only two years. The old 1360 AM signal became a children’s music station called WAOZ, then news/talk WAZU in 1996. It went back to sports-talk in 1997. Clear Channel and Jacor merged. The company moved the WCKY call letters from 550 AM to 1360 AM.

    1980s and 1990s. On March 23, 1987, WWNK dropped the simulcast of WWNK-FM and became oldies as "K-Rock". In 1988, AM 1360 returned to WSAI, which enhanced the oldies format. In 1992 WSAI became the first station in the market to have a sports talk format, but this did not last long.

  7. Oct 13, 2015 · Channel 2 kept the WMAR calls but WMAR-FM became WMKR "K106". B104 was still going strong at the time which didn't help but in 1986 they became WWMX "Mix 106.5" and they are still around today. Funny how 106.5 was for years a sister station to Baltimore's channel 2 is now a sister station for WJZ channel 13.
