When Oregon begins playing games there in January, the Nike-designed logo will be located not only on the arena’s website, but also at center court. From the news release: The design visually represents Oregon’s modern graphic language, a Japanese torii gate, while also embodying Matthew Knight’s toothy grin.
“Its inspired by our beautiful tree-covered region and the UO 1939 NCAA Championship basketball team nicknamed the ‘Tall Firs. ‘” The court is framed by a representation of a view from beneath a forest of fir trees.
The trees are all towering toward center court, too, where Oregon’s “O” logo sits above the words “Deep in the Woods.” From up high, looks like a skyward look through a forest clearing.
