Brewster County is the largest county by area in the state - at 6,192 square miles (16,040 km 2) it is over three times the size of the state of Delaware, and more than 500 square miles (1,300 km 2) bigger than Connecticut. As of the 2020 census, the population was 9,546.

Sep 30, 2020 · Brewster County comprises 6,169 square miles of largely rough and mountainous terrain, with elevations ranging from 1,700 to 7,825 feet above sea level; the latter elevation, the tenth highest in the state, is at Emory Peak. Most of Brewster County drains into the Rio Grande, although the northern part drains into the Pecos River.
